We try to be unbiased with our coverage… but sometimes a bike announcement makes us stop mid-scroll. The new Fara Gr4 is one of those. Fara Cycling, based in Oslo, calls it a “category-defying gravel bike” — designed to deliver race-ready speed and long-distance capability in one lightweight package.
Frame & Weight
The Gr4 is built around a high-modulus carbon frame using Torayca T1000 and M40X fibres. Fara says the size M frame weighs just 970g, over 200g lighter than the previous model. They claim a total system weight saving of nearly 500g when factoring in the updated fork, seatpost and cockpit.
Clearance is now up to 2.2” (57mm), allowing for larger volume tyres without compromising mud clearance.
Geometry & Fit
The geometry is pitched as a “balanced” blend of agility, stability and comfort. Shorter chainstays aim to keep the handling responsive, while the overall fit can be tuned for either aggressive racing or ultra-distance riding.

The Modular Cockpit
The most eye-catching change is the new Fara Modular Cockpit. Fara claims it offers improved ergonomics and adaptability over long distances, with backsweep and drop angles designed to align wrists, elbows and shoulders naturally.
- Multiple defined hand positions are built in
- Flare angles increase across the range (8° on narrow race bars, 12° on the widest adventure option)
- Stem lengths are adjustable in 10mm increments without changing hardware
- Integrated mounts allow for aerobars or accessories

Practical Features
Fara has kept the bikepacking and race-utility touches from its earlier F/Gravel model, including:
- Full frame and fork cargo mounts
- Hidden fender mounts
- Updated in-frame storage in the downtube
- Co-moulded T47 inboard bottom bracket threads
- UDH compatibility

Fara’s Positioning
Jeff Webb, Fara’s founder, says: “We didn’t want to force riders to choose between a bike that’s built for racing and one that’s built for exploration. With the Gr4, we created something that excels at both.”
It’s a claim supported by their race pedigree — wins at The Traka and results at events like Badlands, the Atlas Mountain Race and the Transcontinental — but the real test will be how it performs outside the press release.
Pricing: Frameset from €5200 / $5200. Complete builds from €6500 / $6500.
The claimed numbers are impressive — but we’ll need to ride it before we can tell you if they hold up on the road.
